By now, you've probably heard a little something about a national election happening this fall, but did you also know that there's one happening on June 3rd?

That's right--the June 3rd Primary is just around the corner! If you're registered with either of the two major parties, you'll have the chance to vote for your preferred candidates for various local, state, and congressional seats!!  ...Ya know, if you're into that sorta thing...(*tries to mask unbridled enthusiasm with nonchalant statement*).

It's definitely a federal election year in New Mexico. Both of the presumed presidential nominees are here in our lovely "swing state" on Memorial Day (John McCain in Albuquerque and Barack Obama in Las Cruces)--addressing veterans groups.

I caught some of McCain's address as I was walking my dog this morning, and while it's great to hear candidates talking about their commitment to veterans (by way of readjustment, benefits, education, etc.)--it's really aggravating to hear someone say one thing (fourth paragraph down) but do the exact opposite.

Anyway, I hope that the community is taking note of these discrepancies, and not letting the "glitzy-bling-like attention of the celebrity-swing-state status" blind them....
